In 1983, the Nolan D. Bunn Foundation, Inc. was established in loving memory of Nolan "Duke"  Bunn by his wife (Louise) and children. The fund was created based on patients' needs identified by Duke's family during his six years of renal dialysis. Louise Bunn began raising money by baking pies, cakes and cookies. Later, the proceeds of a pig pickin' held in Raleigh were used to initiate the Foundation. Since 1983, additional monies have been added through private donations and various fund raising projects. |
